The Ink

Day 10: Velvet Emerald

This is a bright, greenish teal, standard ink. It has decent shading, and red sheen in heavier applications.

It does feel kind of Christmas-y, like a cozy sweater, or a felt elf hat with bells on it. 🙂

My immediate thought was, isn’t this the same as Diamine Aurora Borealis? It’s similar, but Velvet Emerald is slightly brighter and more green to my eyes. They both have red sheen.

I think Velvet Emerald looks pretty similar Pilot Iroshizuku Syo-Ro. But Syo-Ro is slightly more translucent.

I also thought that maybe Herbin Emeraude de Chivor had a similar base color, but added golden shimmer, but I was surprised to see it’s significantly bluer, which didn’t match my memory of it. Not sure if it was always like this, or if maybe it changed over time? 🤔
