The Ink

Day 9: Moon Beam - Chameleon

Moon Beam is a greenish gray with green, blue, and gold chameleon shimmer. This greenish tint is hard to recreate from the scans, at least with the post-processing app I’m using. Since this is a gray ink, I’m on the border of not liking it, being so close to a black ink. But its translucency and shading help move it away from black.

This macro shot showing off the chameleon shimmer somewhat misrepresents the saturation of the base color, but it does better show the green-gray shade.

As for comparable inks, I thought that this looked a lot like my sample of Kiwi Inks Nebula Space Kitty, but the ink is more viscous and solid, and is more of a dark, blue-leaning teal, rather than a green-gray. But the green-bluish shimmer is similar.

Troublemaker Petrichor obviously has no shimmer, but if you like greenish-gray tones, this ink definitely shows that off, with some pink tones thrown in for dual-shading.

Van Dieman’s Russian Blue ink from their feline series is similar to Petrichor, but leaning more blue-gray if you prefer that end of the spectrum.

From last year’s Inkvent, Alpine has a similar green-gray base color, but is much more saturated and solid. Its shimmer is also a straight silver. But this green-gray is probably the closest match I have to Moon Beam’s base.

The Quote

I picked up this funny quote from Abbott Elementary’s “Holiday Hookah” episode:

Jacob: Merry Capitalism to you all. Barbara, although I did not participate in the gift exchange, I did get you the humanely harvested poinsettia you asked for. Merry Christmas.
