The Ink

Day 17: Lavender Frost - Shimmer

Lavender Frost is well-described by its name again. It’s a medium, warm lavender with silver or perhaps iridescent shimmer. When you first swatch the ink, it goes on as a medium-dark gray with a hint of purple tones, which made me immediately think of Sailor Shikiori Chu-shu. But as it dries, the color lightens and becomes more lavender, which is partially because of the strong silvery shimmer.

The ink without most of its shimmer is ever so slightly darker (more apparent in real life, vs the scans below).

As I said, since the ink looks pretty gray when it’s wet, I thought of Sailor Chu-shu, a medium-dark gray with some purple undertones, but this is too dark, cool, and lacking in overt purple/lavender tones compared to Lavender Frost.

Some mentioned Ghost, a dual-shader gray from last year’s Inkvent, but it is also kind of cool or more gray compared to Lavender Frost. Close, though.

In my last ink sample buying spree, I got a sample of Van Dieman’s Morning Frost, which is kind of close in appearance, but also on the cooler purple side. Its shimmer is also more of an overall metallic sheen over the ink, rather than shimmer particles.

Finally, Van Dieman’s Dusk has a cooler lavender shade and is rather light and transparent, in case you like this more mellow version.

The Quote

Today’s quote is from Parks and Rec, “Citizen Knope,” where Leslie is talking to her citizen action group, trying to get them excited about all the work she wants them to do. 😄

Leslie: There’s nothing we can’t do if we work hard, never sleep, and shirk all other responsibilities in our lives. You with me?

Leslie… 🤦‍♀️
