The Ink
Day 5: Nightfall - Chameleon
Nightfall is a very dark blue-black with a super strong brown (or red?) sheen that basically obliterates the base ink color. It also has yellow and green shimmer.
I’m not a huge fan of sheening inks (yet?), mainly because I don’t like that the sheen is often so strong that you cannot see the underlying base. This would be a pretty nice blue-black if you could see it. 😒
Since I don’t generally like “so dark they’re basically black” (or straight black) inks, I didn’t have anything in my regular ink library to compare. But 2 inks from last year’s Inkvent are pretty similar. I would guess that Silent Night may be the basis for Nightfall, as it has the same blue-black base and red/brown sheen, but no shimmer. Serendipity has the same combo of strong sheen and shimmer as Nightfall, but its base ink is more of a dark teal, and the shimmer is coppery.
I need to find a diluting solution that I could use with these inks to help coax the base color out more, because they’d probably look more appealing to me that way.

Either I should plan space for the embellishments/doodles better, or I should just stop drawing them. 🤦♀️Also, when I transcribed the quote, I let the ink run out on my dip pen to see the base ink without so much sheen, so that’s why it’s patchy.
